Über das Buch

Zum Inhalt

This book contains a collection of results of a research project aiming at the application of advanced control and diagnosis approaches for pump systems. The research was carried out by the Hochschule Ravensburg-Weingarten in Germany, the Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil, Switzerland and the company Allweiler GmbH, a leading pump manufacturer in Germany. The main objective of the project was to develop and to implement algorithms, methods and tools for control and diagnosis which can be applied to pump systems.

The algorithms, methods and tools developed in the project are ranging from conventional control technology to components of advanced control and diagnosis, such as parametrical models, neuronal nets and fuzzy logic. The procedures predict the behavior of the systems and its components on the basis of appropriate models of the systems and compare these predictions with current measurements. The developed procedures derive information concerning the state of the systems and of the system products.

In addition to an improved, more efficient control and increased robustness the procedures achieve an optimization of the service concerning the early detection of service demand and the coordination of service (e. g. for several, redundant pump units). A conscious planning and coordination of service operations is supported.

The developed procedures dispose of several levels. Fast control algorithms on the lower level enable fast reactions to changed conditions of the fluid to be transported or of surrounding conditions. For the higher levels algorithms, methods and tools for plausibility and for prediction, planning and service on demand were designed and implemented.

The procedures were implemented in a real control system and were verified in a pilot application. Also interfaces were considered as well as the vertical communication with higher level control and planning systems and the horizontal communication with…
